Man beats wife to death for not meeting dowry demand of TVS Apache Bike

Amroha: A shocking case of wife-beating and murder in the name of dowry has emerged in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha.
Sundar, a resident of Baikheda village, beat his wife Meena to death after clamouring for dowry on Sunday night.
Since marrying Meena two years ago, Sundar had been demanding a TVS Apache bike and ₹ 3 lakh in dowry, according to NDTV.
Since Rakshabandhan in August, Meena had been staying at her parents' house in Soharka.
A family member said Sundar used to visit her and had meals at her home.
Visiting them on Sunday night, he brought Meena back to his home and began confronting her over dowry.
It is reported at some point he beat her with sticks and strangled her, and fled the scene.
Neighhours alerted the police about the murder and her family demanded the arrest of the accused.
Following a complaint by Meena’s father Vijay Khadak Banshi, a case has been filed, said a senior official.
It is reported that a search is on for the accused.
