Hyderabad: A 19-year-old NEET aspirant, Ankita Sangle, was found dead at her home in Jalalpur village, Karjat taluka, Ahilyanagar district, on Saturday, July 25. Relatives discovered her hanging from a ceiling fan at about 5:30 pm while her parents and elder brother were away in Pandharpur for Ashadhi Ekadashi.

Police recovered a handwritten note in which Ankita apologised to her family and said she was deeply upset over her score in the NEET re-examination. She scored 166 marks in the re-exam, short of the 177 cutoff. She had been taking online coaching for the test.

NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar appealed to students not to take extreme steps after failure, urging them to persevere and consider the impact on their families.

Karjat police have registered an accidental death case and are investigating. Authorities noted this is not an isolated incident; on June 20, a 21-year-old student from Nashik district allegedly died by suicide a day before the NEET re-test.
