Krishna Janmabhoomi row: Mathura court allows lawsuit demanding removal of Shahi Idgah mosque
text_fieldsUttar Pradesh: A Mathura court today overturned a 2020 civil court order dismissing the suit to remove the Shahi Idgah Masjid, allegedly built on the land of Shrikrishna Janam Bhoomi.
The court also allowed the plea to seal the Shahi Idgah Mosque near Krishna Janmabhoomi.
Advocate Mukesh Khandelwal was quoted as saying, "Plaintiffs had filed suit in lower court and observed that plaintiffs don't have right to sue. A revision was filed before Mathura dist court. Court now said that lower court's order is wrong and stayed it."
Today's judgment is related to the first lawsuit in the case, which was filed by Lucknow resident Ranjana Agnihotri as the next friend of child deity Shri Krishna Virajman of the Katra Keshav Dev temple and six others.
Of the three lawsuits in this case, the second suit was filed by Hindu Army chief Manish Yadav and the third by five other plaintiffs through advocate Mahendra Pratap Singh.
The petitioners in the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah Mosque dispute case are seeking the ownership of 13.37 acres of land of Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi and also the removal of Shahi Idgah Mosque built there.
The petition also sought excavation of the disputed site under the supervision of the court, saying that an inquiry report of the excavation should be submitted.
The Shahi Idgah mosque, the petitions say, was built near the Krishna Janmabhoomi on the orders of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in 1669-70.
