Bengaluru: Police in Karnataka are searching for the man who allegedly beheaded a16-year-old girl whom he was set to marry.

The wedding was to take place in Surlabbi village in Madikeri on Thursday when authorities stopped the ceremony as the girl turned out to be a minor.

The 32-year-old was to marry the girl who cleared her Class 10 exams yesterday.

Someone tipped off the Commission for Protection of Child Rights about the illegal ceremony.

Afterwards, a team of officials came to the venue where the wedding was to take place and ordered families to stop the ceremony.

The families agreed to end the engagement and cancelled the ceremony understanding that an underage girl could not bemarried.

A furious Prakash later barged into the girl’s house and attack her parents, NDTV reported citing police.

Afterwards, he reportedly dragged the girl out of the house and beheaded her, before fleeing the scene.

Police have begun a search operation for him.
