New Delhi: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau today brought up the diplomatic row with India, raising the importance of ‘upholding and respecting the rule of law’.

Justin Trudeau said he was discussing with Mohamed Bin Zayed, the President of the United Arab Emirates the war situation in Israel alongside speaking about India.

The Canadian PM in a post on X said, ‘On the phone today, His Highness @MohammedBinZayed and I spoke about the current situation in Israel. We expressed our deep concern and discussed the need to protect civilian life. We also spoke about India and the importance of upholding -- and respecting -- the rule of law’.

The relations between India and Canada hit a roadblock after Canadian prime minister accused India of involvement in the killing of Canadian citizen Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

The 45-year-old is one of India’s most wanted to terrorists who was the chief of banned Khalistan Tiger Force.

India strongly refuted charges alongside freezing visa services to Canadian citizens.

Trudeau's allegations came just days after the G20 meet held in India last month.

The US administration made a cautious response to the escalating situation.

India termed Canada's allegations as politically driven, saying that the Canadian authorities have not provided any evidence.

India issued a travel advisory to its nationals urging them to be cautious of risks in the nation.
