Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lead India’s 80th Independence Day celebrations from the historic Red Fort in New Delhi on Saturday, marking his 13th consecutive address to the nation. With this speech, he becomes the most successful non-Congress Prime Minister in terms of consecutive Independence Day addresses since taking office in 2014.
The scheduled programme opens with the Prime Minister's arrival at the venue, followed by the ceremonial hoisting of the Tricolour, a traditional 21-gun salute using indigenous 105 mm Light Field Guns, and an aerial flower shower delivered by Indian Air Force helicopters.
A major highlight of this year's event is the historic first-ever mass singing of 'Vande Mataram' at the Red Fort, commemorating 150 years of the national song. The performance will be delivered by National Cadet Corps cadets alongside My Bharat volunteers.
The overall celebrations place significant emphasis on 'Yuva Shakti', focusing on the role of India’s young population in driving progress toward the vision of a developed nation, Viksit Bharat, by 2047. During his address, PM Modi will outline the country’s development journey, key national achievements, and future strategic goals.
