Indian airlines set to resume Doha flights from May 1 amid West Asia tensions

New Delhi/Doha: Major Indian carriers will restore flights to Doha’s Hamad International Airport from May 1, signalling a tentative return to normal air links in the conflict-hit West Asia region.
The move follows a two-month suspension triggered by a US-Israeli offensive on February 28 against Iranian targets, which spiralled into wider unrest. Air India, Air India Express, and IndiGo will reconnect Doha with key Indian cities and hubs.
“Indian carriers plan to resume operations at Hamad International Airport, Doha, as flight operations continue to expand. Air India, Air India Express, and IndiGo plan to resume their flight services between Doha and various destinations in India starting May 1, 2026,” the Embassy of India in Doha posted on X.
The embassy noted the resumption forms part of global aviation efforts to stabilise services, but warned schedules remain fluid amid security concerns. Passengers should check with airlines for updates on timings, terminals, and bookings.
Qatar, despite its mediation role, saw its airspace shut to commercial traffic since early March, limiting Hamad to emergency and evacuation flights. A fragile Islamabad-brokered ceasefire, extended by US President Donald Trump, has now allowed insurers to greenlight a phased revival.
