Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adithyanath said that India will be run only by the traditions of Lord Ram and not by those of Babur or Aurangazeb. He claimed that when Ram’s, Krishna’s and Buddha’s traditions are to remain in India, the legacies of Babur and Aurangzeb are going to fade, Times of India reported.

The CM was speaking at the state assembly after the opposition demanded to give no permission for Hindu processions and rallies to pass through Muslim-dominated areas, arguing that that would give rise to incidents of violence.

Adityanath wondered where in the Constitution it is written that a Hindu procession cannot be taken out in a Muslim-dominated area. His question gave the impression that he is completely oblivious to the violent incidents that caused loss of life, injuries and damages to properties after similar processions in his own state.

He continued that he was surprised that Hindu rallies would not be allowed in front of mosques and asked if the roads belonged to anyone. When it is a public road, how can anyone stop such processions?" he asked.

"When you stop it, the reaction from the Hindu side also comes that we will also not let it go. I am surprised by these things that the procession will not be allowed in front of the mosque. Does this road belong to anyone? It is a public road, how can you stop anyone?" India Today quoted him.

Referring to a recent instance of a Hindu procession being stopped in Bahraich, he claimed that Jai Shri Ram is not provocative, but a slogan of Hindus’ devotion and a symbol of faith.

He compared Jai Shri Ram with Allahu Akbar, saying "Tomorrow, if I tell you that we do not like the slogan of Allahu Akbar, will you like it?" India Today quoted.

He said that all arrangements were made to take the procession in Bahraich but it was cancelled.
