India has raised strong concerns with Poland over what it called the selective and unfair targeting of New Delhi over its trade ties with Moscow amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

New Delhi also cautioned Warsaw against any support to Pakistan on issues related to cross-border terrorism.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar conveyed India’s position during a meeting with Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski in New Delhi, where the two sides reviewed the expanding India-Poland Strategic Partnership and discussed regional and global developments.

Jaishankar said the meeting was taking place at a time of considerable churn in global affairs and underlined the importance of exchanging perspectives.

He noted that ties between the two countries were elevated to a strategic partnership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Warsaw in August 2024, and said both sides would review the Action Plan 2024 to 2028 while exploring deeper cooperation in trade, investment, defence, security, clean technologies, and digital innovation.

Turning to the Ukraine war, Jaishankar said he had candidly shared India’s views with Sikorski on multiple occasions and reiterated that the selective targeting of India through tariffs and other pressure tactics was unfair and unjustified. India has maintained that it seeks dialogue and diplomacy to end the conflict and has resisted pressure aimed at influencing its independent foreign policy choices.

Jaishankar also raised concerns over cross-border terrorism, urging Poland to display zero tolerance and not help fuel terrorist infrastructure in India’s neighbourhood, a remark seen as a reference to Pakistan. He recalled Poland’s statement on Kashmir during a bilateral visit to Islamabad in October 2025.

Sikorski said Poland agreed on the unfairness of selective targeting by tariffs and warned such practices could cause global trade turbulence. He also said Poland had faced arson and attempted state terrorism and supported efforts to counter trans border terrorism.
