BJP surges ahead in MP, Raj, Chhattisgarh, Congress in Telangana

New Delhi: The updates from counting centres at this hour show BJP leading in 161 seats in Madhya Pradesh.

Its arch rival Congress is leading in 61 seats, looking to be getting further away from power.

However, exit polls predicted a tight race between BJP and Congress for the saffron strong hold.

Some exit polls gave ruling Shivraj Singh Chouhan 139 of 230 seats.

In Rajasthan the picture is getting even more evidently in favour of the BJP with the party is leading in 113 seats.

The Congress is reduced to just leading in 70 seats as of reporting these updates.

Contrasting the exit polls predictions, the BJP is surging ahead in Chhattisgarh leading at this point in 53 seats while the Congress is far behind in 36 seats.

The results in Telangana is a morale booster to the Congress with the party leading now in 65 seats with the ruling BRS managed only 42 seats so far.

The results are testifying to the exit poll predictions of the Grand Old Party getting to power outshining the BRS.

Telangana with 119 assembly seats has been ruled by BRS since the birth of the state in 2014.

Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill on Sunday expressed confidence in the party's electoral prospects, declaring an imminent victory in the Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh.

Alongside, BJP leader and MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy said that it is the people's faith being reflected in the Assembly election results of the four states.

"As a national party, the BJP's presence has now expanded to states as well. Now, the Congress knows whom they are contesting against, and in the coming days, it will be difficult for them," said Rudy.
