New Delhi: The Delhi High Court asked former Union Minister and Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram as well as his son Karti Chidambaram to submit a response on an Enforcement Directorate (ED) petition. The ED petition was to challenge a trial court's order directing the agency to give the Chidambarams documents regarding the INX Media money laundering, PTI reported.

Issuing notice to the Chidambarams, Justice Yogesh Khanna listed the case for hearing on April 20. The HC ruled that the trial court verdict must not be implemented till the next hearing.

Advocate Amit Mahajan, appearing for the ED, had challenged the trial court's January 2020 rule, directing ED to provide a scanned copy of the list of the documents to avoid further delay in the case.

The Chidambarams were represented by senior advocates N Hariharan, Siddharth Luthra and lawyer Arshdeep Singh. They requested the trial court to avail the documents regarding the case since those cannot be relied upon.

But, the Delhi HC had dismissed the CBI's plea on the same case on November 10, 2021, which challenged the trial court's order to allow the Chidambarams to inspect the documents in the INX Media corruption case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had arrested P Chidambaram in the case on August 2, 2019, and two months later, ED arrested him again in a related money-laundering case. The Supreme Court had granted Chidambaram on the CBI case, and he received the same on December 4, 2019, on the ED case.
