CJP's Dipke criticises PM attending 'Bhajan Clubbing' in Delhi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, September 25, attended a “Bhajan Clubbing” event at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Park in Delhi, an appearance that drew attention amid the ongoing debate over priorities.
The event was organised to mark the birth anniversary of Sangh Parivar ideologue Deendayal Upadhyaya at the park located opposite the Bharatiya Janata Party headquarters. Videos from the programme showed singers performing devotional songs while young members of the audience clapped and participated in the event, Siasat Daily reported.
The appearance also drew a political reaction from Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke. Sharing a video of Modi at the event, Dipke posted a clipping of a news report on the recent gangrape of a minor in Delhi and used the caption “Priorities” to question the Prime Minister’s participation in the programme.
Bhajan clubbing is a contemporary cultural trend in which traditional devotional music is presented in a high-energy, concert-like setting. The format has gained popularity among young people, particularly Gen Z audiences.
Participants typically sing along, chant, clap and dance to devotional lyrics accompanied by modern acoustic or electronic arrangements. The events generally recreate the atmosphere of a nightclub but without alcohol, and the trend has been gaining popularity in several Indian cities as well as abroad.
