text_fieldsPatna: With exit polls having predicted clear victory for RJD-led Grand Alliance, the candidates across the divide are sitting either finger crossed or nail-biting.
It means fate of over 3,700 candidates in race to 243 seats of the state Assembly will be decided in a few hours from now.
Counting is underway amid tight security at 55 locations in 38 districts of the state. Alongside, precautions against covid situation are in place.
The polls saw over 7.30 crore electors voting to choose the next government in the state, in the first major polls following covid pandemic.
Exit polls project a sweeping victory for the Grand Alliance led by RJD, and its chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav coming to power.
Bihar voted for the 243-member Assembly in three phases -- October 28, November 3 and November 7.
The RJD had won 80 seats in the 2015 Assembly polls, while the JD(U) won 71 seats. The BJP had won 53 seats and the LJP managed two seats.
The Bihar election is being seen as a referendum on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, whose JD(U) is in alliance with the BJP-led NDA. Nitish Kumar has governed Bihar three times in a row since 2005.

Amit Shah dials Nitish as NDA maintains marginal lead in Bihar
Union Home Minister Amit Shah Tuesday dialled Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as the two leaders talked about the Bihar poll results and trends, sources close to the JD(U) president said,reports PTI
The NDA is marginally ahead of rival Mahagathbandhan, according to the latest Election Commission update on counting of votes.
The BJP has outperformed ally JD(U) which has triggered speculations in some quarters if Kumar will still be the chief minister or somebody from the saffron party will lead the coalition government in the state.

BJP emerges as senior partner in Bihar NDA, leaves JD(U) far behind
The BJP appeared set to leave its ally JD(U) far behind in the seat tally in theBihar assembly elections, emerging as the senior partner in the alliance for the first time in about two decades.
The saffron party was leading or had won in 73 seats in the 243-member assembly, while the corresponding figure for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led party was merely 41, according to the Election Commission figures at 7.50 pm.

The Shiv Sena on Tuesday said JD-U leader Nitish Kumar should thank it if he retains the post of Bihar chief minister despite his party winning less seats in the Assembly polls than ally BJP as the latest trends indicate.
Referring to last year's dramatic turn of events in Maharashtra, which saw the Shiv Sena severing ties with the BJP and forming government with ideological rivals NCP and the Congress, Sena MP Sanjay Raut said his party had shown what happens "when word is not kept" by an alliance partner.

BJP wins 6 seats, leads on 66
Election Commission declares results for 14 out of the total 243 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday secured victory on 6 seats in the 243-member . of Assembly constituiencies. The party is leading on 68 seats, emerging as the single largest party in the state.
While RJD, JD(U) and Vikassheel Insaan Party wins 2 each, Congress and AIMIM have won 1 each.
