text_fieldsPatna: With exit polls having predicted clear victory for RJD-led Grand Alliance, the candidates across the divide are sitting either finger crossed or nail-biting.
It means fate of over 3,700 candidates in race to 243 seats of the state Assembly will be decided in a few hours from now.
Counting is underway amid tight security at 55 locations in 38 districts of the state. Alongside, precautions against covid situation are in place.
The polls saw over 7.30 crore electors voting to choose the next government in the state, in the first major polls following covid pandemic.
Exit polls project a sweeping victory for the Grand Alliance led by RJD, and its chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav coming to power.
Bihar voted for the 243-member Assembly in three phases -- October 28, November 3 and November 7.
The RJD had won 80 seats in the 2015 Assembly polls, while the JD(U) won 71 seats. The BJP had won 53 seats and the LJP managed two seats.
The Bihar election is being seen as a referendum on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, whose JD(U) is in alliance with the BJP-led NDA. Nitish Kumar has governed Bihar three times in a row since 2005.

Bihar polls strike rate: BJP, Left score big; JD(U), Cong far behind-Part 2
Within the NDA, Jitanram Manjhi-led HAM has managed to score about 40 per cent, while the Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP) was below this mark.
Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM's strike rate was around 25 per cent, while the worst came from the Chirag Paswan-led LJP.
The LJP was seen struggling even to retain its two seats. It contested 137 seats in this election.
In terms of vote share, the RJD appeared having got nearly 23 per cent, while BJP got nearly 20 per cent, as per the latest EC data.
The JD(U) got over 15 per cent, Congress below 10 per cent and LJP nearly five per cent.

Bihar polls strike rate: BJP, Left score big; JD(U), Cong far behind
The BJP has scored high in terms of winning percentage in the Bihar assembly polls, while its partner JD(U) has performed relatively poorly.
In the opposition camp, the Left front has outscored its partners with a much better strike rate.
According to the latest trends on the Election Commission (EC) website, the BJP won or was leading in 74 seats out of the total 110 contested with a strike rate of over 65 per cent, while JD(U)'s score was less than 40 per cent, says a PTI report
In the opposition side, Congress was the worst with a less than 30 per cent strike rate, while the Left front scored more than 60 per cent and the RJD over 50 per cent.

The role of Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM which has won one seat and is leading on four more, the Bahujan Samaj Party which is leading on one seat and two Independent candidates may play a crucial role.
The AIMIM may hold the key simply because of its anti-saffron ideology, even though Owaisi was targeted by by Tejashwi Yadav for weakening his party in its minority-dominated stronghold of Seemanchal.

The AIMIM, the BSP and Independent candidates set for a win will have extra value amid the extremely tight situation in Bihar as the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan are neck to neck in getting to a simple majority.
Even as the NDA is ahead of the Mahagathbandhan, it is barely at the half-way mark of 122 in the 243-member Bihar Assembly.
The RJD is turning out to be single-largest party and its leaders say that they will legally stake a claim with the Governor to form a government in Bihar.

Sharad Pawar praises Tejashwi Yadav for tough fight in Bihar polls
NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Tuesday said though the trends of Bihar Assembly election results favour the NDA, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav put up a "gritty" fight, reports PTI
"The trends so far are in favour of the NDA. I think we did not pay attention to the Bihar election. We (NCP) did not contest because we felt that young leadership in the form of Tejashwi Yadav should come forward," Pawar told reporters
