Bengaluru: Known for the cutthroat house renting market, Bengaluru has taken a leap. A landlord in the city asked the tenant to share his LinkedIn profile and a small write-up about himself.

The tenant shared the WhatsApp chat on Twitter and the post went viral. He captioned it: "Day 12 of house hunting in Indiranagar". One landlord asked him to share the LinkedIn profile and another asked for a write-up. However, it seems to be a new trend in the city known to increase rent money at every available opportunity. "In Bengaluru after cracking the job interview, you also need to crack the house interview!," he added in the comments.

Many users shared their similar experiences in the comments. One user said that they know a few people who already pay a good amount for rent. They were asked a lot of questions and then rent was quoted again with an increased price. "They are still hunting for a house".

The responses by netizens suggest that it is not a problem faced in Bengaluru alone. In Gurgaon, tenants have to send their profiles to prove that they are a salaried employee. People doing startups do not get the house.

However, Hyderabad appears to have a laid back situation. One user said he has been living in the city since 2003 and has lived in eight apartments as a bachelor, live-in couple, and bachelor. "I never had to give my profile, and never had to pay the advance for more than two months. Currently staying in a high-rise society at a reasonable rate."
