Bengaluru: After the Supreme Court ordered not to allow Ganeshotsav celebrations in Idgah Maidan in Bengaluru, state police deployed 1,500 police personnel in the area on Wednesday, IANS reported.

The deployed troops included 21 ACPs, 47 inspectors, 130 sub-inspectors, 126 assistant sub-inspectors and 900 constables, who were under DCPs' monitoring.

Further, 120 personnel from the Rapid Action Force, a team of 100 special ammunition experts, and 10 platoons of the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) were also deployed to thwart any untoward incidents.

Police had taken measures like removing rowdy elements from the locality and conducting flag marches and a series of meetings with religious leaders there.

The Chamarajanagar Citizens' Forum, which had batted for the Ganeshotsav celebration inside the maidan, stated that it would abide by the Supreme Court order.

But Rame Gowda, the Forum's President, said that the organisation would go forward with the legal battle and added that he was confident of grandly celebrating the event in the maidan.

The state police have increased security at the Hubbali city Idgah Maidan also, where the Karnataka High Court allowed Ganeshotsav celebrations.
