Akhilesh Yadav backs caste census, says it is necessary for inclusive growth
text_fieldsLucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said that a caste census is needed in the state because it is necessary for inclusive growth. He added that it is not a new demand of the party and various parties have made the same demand earlier also.
Speaking to the media on the assembly premises, he said everyone's development is possible only when the caste census is done. "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas" (with all, for everyone's development). The SP leader also called the Kapur incident in which a 45-year-old woman and her daughter allegedly immolated themselves during an anti-encroachment drive "unfortunate".
He also criticised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and said the CM came from another state and has nothing to do with UP's caste census. "People can get due honour after the caste census otherwise dreams of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar will remain unfulfilled."
