4 UP cops suspended over attending criminal's birthday bash, video goes viral

Ghaziabad: Four policemen in Sahibabad area of Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad allegedly attended birthday celebrations of a criminal at a bar on Saturday, The Free Press Journal reported.
All of them, a sub-inspector and three constables, were suspended after a video showed them dancing at the birthday party with beer bottles in hands.
A probe on Monday revealed that the policemen had drinks and danced with female dancers in the bar at the birthday bash of the history sheeter Irshad Malik.
The sub-inspector was not reportedly seen dancing with the constables in the CCTV footage.
Nimish Patil, DCP of the trans-Hindon zone said that ‘During the initial inquiry, we got the CCTV footage of the bar checked and found that four had attended the birthday party of a history-sheeted suspect on September 27. Three constables were clearly visible in the CCTV footage, while the sub-inspector was not seen in the footage.’
Adding that police are checking more CCTVs, the officer said that ‘However, prima facie, they had attended the birthday party, and all four were suspended pending a detailed inquiry’.
A detailed investigation has been launched into the matter.
