3 Kerala cities gets ranked in India's top 10 cities' list
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Three cities from Kerala are on the list of top ten cities in India as per a list published based on analysis of economics, human capital, quality of life, environment and governance by independent economic advisory firm Oxford Economics.
In the analysis report of the 'Oxford Economics Global Cities Index', the three Kerala cities are Kochi, Thrissur and Kozhikode. When Kochi ranked 5th in the ten, with a global ranking of 521, Thrissur is at 8th, with a global ranking of 550, and Kozhikode stands at 10th, with a global ranking of 580.
The Indian capital, Delhi, stands at the first position with a global ranking of 350 while other metro cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai and Chennai stand at second, third and fourth in the top ten list with rankings 411, 427 and 472, respectively.
Following Kochi at 5th, it is Kolkata (528) and Pune (534) at sixth and seventh and after Thrissur at eighth, it comes Hyderabad (564) ninth and then Kozhikode. Of the top ten cities in India, six are from the south.
Oxford Economics ranked New York as the number one global city, while London, San Jose, Tokyo, Paris, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Melbourne and Zurich followed in the top ten global cities.
However, on the basis of better p[place to live, major cities in Kerala, including its capital, Thiruvananthapuram, ranked better than India's megacities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai, Oxford Economics Global Cities Index suggested.
The Keralite cities such as Thiruvananthapuram are ranked at 748 in 'quality of life', while Kottayam is at s753, Thrissur is at 757, and Kochi is at 765. However, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Mumbai ranked below them with respective rankings of 838, 847, 882 and 915.
