Mumbai: Indian Super League (ISL) franchise Kerala Blasters FC will take on North East United FC in the opening match of the third edition of the glamorous football league at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Guwahati.

The opening ceremony of the third edition will be hosted in Guwahati, Assam, the promoters of the football league announced through a release on Saturday.

By awarding Guwahati the rights to host the opening ceremony, the organisers wished to celebrate North East's contribution to the development of Indian football and recognise the potential it has in shaping the future of the sport in the country, according to the release.

The host club NorthEast United will be led by newly-appointed coach Nelo Vingada while Kerala Blasters FC will be led by Steve Coppell .
