Los Angeles: Hollywood's finest Quentin Tarantino is reportedly working on a film titled 'The Movie Critic' and it is about the firebrand critic Pauline Kael. The film is rumoured to be his final project.

According to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, the story is set in the late 1970s Los Angeles and has a female lead at its centre. Kael is known for her passionate and uncompromising reviews. The script of the film has been completed and shooting may start this year. The Movie Critic has not been picked up by a studio yet but that may change quickly. The details are being kept secret. Kael in the late 1970s worked as a consultant briefly for Paramount studio. Some speculate that the story is set around this phase of her life.

The acclaimed director is a fan of the late Pauline who has influenced popular filmmakers like Wes Anderson and Quentin himself. He wrote a book titled 'Cinema Speculation' which is clearly inspired by the ideas of Pauline. She was known for having witty and sharply focused reviews contrary to her peers. In her obituary, Pulitzer winner Roger Ebert said that Kael "had a more positive influence on the climate for film in America than any other single person over the last three decades." She had "no theory, no rules, no guidelines, no objective standards." Her approach to the film was personal and could not be replicated.

Quentin has so far made nine films - Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill, Death Proof, Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Over the years, he has hinted that he will only make 10 films which means The Movie Critic is a possible final creation.
