Mumbai: Following a promising opening day, the box office performance of Kunal Kemmu's directorial debut, Madgaon Express, witnessed a significant surge on its second day.

According to a report by Sacnilk, the comedy-drama raked in Rs 3 crore on its second day, marking a doubling of its collection compared to the opening day. With this, the film has amassed a total of Rs 4.5 crore in just two days.

The storyline of Madgaon Express revolves around a Goa trip undertaken by three childhood friends, which takes an unexpected turn. The movie features Pratik Gandhi, Divyenndu, and Avinash Tiwary in pivotal roles, with notable appearances by Nora Fatehi, Chhaya Kadam, and Remo D'Souza.

Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment, the film aims to captivate audiences with its blend of humor and drama.

Noted Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared insights into the film's box office performance on Saturday, highlighting its successful run. He mentioned, "The #MadgaonExpress exceeds expectations… Gathers momentum on Day 1 thanks to #Buy1Get1 ticket offer… The post-noon shows, gradually, witness better occupancy thanks to patronage of its target audience: Youth… Fri ₹ 1.63 cr. #India biz. #Boxoffice."

Adarsh also indicated an upward trend for the film on its second day due to the extension of the #Buy1Get1 offer.

In a review published on NDTV, film critic Saibal Chatterjee compared it to the iconic Dil Chahta Hai.

Chatterjee noted, "Madgaon Express harks back in significant ways to the spirit of Dil Chahta Hai. In terms of style and substance, however, it is a film that wants us to dismiss our worst reverses with peals of laughter, which, not no tangentially, is what the doctor would perhaps order as salve for the tough, fraught times that we live in."

He lauded the film's portrayal of 1990s Bombay boys and their aspirations for a carefree trip to Goa, despite the challenges posed by their parents.

With positive reviews and a growing audience response, Madgaon Express seems poised for further success at the box office, showcasing the potential of Kunal Kemmu's directorial venture.
