Los Angeles: Indian-American vocalist Chandrika Tandon won a Grammy Award for her album 'Triveni' in the Best New Age, Ambient or Chant Album category, surpassing nominees such as Ricky Kej and Anoushka Shankar.
The 67th Grammy Awards, organized by the Recording Academy, took place on Sunday at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Chandrika, who won the honor alongside South African flautist Wouter Kellerman and Japanese cellist Eru Matsumoto, received acclaim for her work 'Triveni', which features a unique blend of ancient mantras, flute, and cello, bridging diverse cultures through music.
Other contenders in the Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album category included 'Break of Dawn' by Ricky Kej, 'Opus' by Ryuichi Sakamoto, 'Chapter II: How Dark It Is Before Dawn' by Anoushka Shankar, and 'Warriors Of Light' by Radhika Vekaria.
The Consulate General of India in New York congratulated Chandrika, who is the sister of former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi, through an official post on X.
In the post, they praised her work as a fusion of talent and creativity with a higher purpose, wishing her continued success.
This year’s Grammys also made headlines for other events, including Kanye West and Bianca Censori being escorted out by police and Will Smith's return to televised awards shows following the 2022 Academy Awards incident.
