Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui said he finds working with female directors to be a different experience because the female gaze is much different.

He has worked with top, acclaimed directors like Zoya Akhtar, Anusha Rizvi, Debamitra Biswal, Reema Kagti, and Nandita Das.

Looking back on his journey, he said working with renowned female directors helped him a great deal. "I realised that women look at the world differently, They are far more compassionate and they see beauty in everything."

He added that for most men, it is often about power and control. "That also reflects in our relationships. Men tend to be more territorial and try to assert power. But, the female gaze is kinder and more sensitive."

Nawazuddin Siddiqui's one of the first critically acclaimed projects was Peepli Live directed by Anusha Rizvi. He essayed the role of a journalist which got him wide recognition as an actor. After three years, he worked with Zoya Akhtar in the anthology film Bombay Talkies.

One of his career-best performances was in Manto by Nandita Das. The biographical drama based on Urdu author Saadat Hasan Manto earned him seven nominations at Filmfare Awards including Best Film Critics and Best Actor Critics.

Siddiqui is currently playing transgender in the film Haddi. He said he is trying to get the point of view women directors bring to the film. The Akshat Ajay Sharma directorial recently ended up amid controversy for not hiring a transgender actor to play the role.
