New Delhi: After the 'Boycott Laal Singh Chaddha' trend on Twitter, the cancel culture is back in form after netizens trended 'Cancel Dobaaraa' on Twitter.

It all started after the film's director Anuragh Kashyap and the lead actress Taapsee Pannu were asked about films in Bollywood getting Boycott, and how they jokingly urged the audience to Boycott their next Dobaaraa.

Giving the question a humorous spin, Taapsee told the media, "Please everyone boycott our film, Dobaaraa. I want to be in the same league as Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar's Rakshabandhan. I feel left out." Anurag too added, "Yes please, I want our film to trend on the boycott hashtag as well."

They also questioned if the people who speak about boycott and cancel culture are part of the real audience for their movies. "I want to know if those people who call for a boycott are the ones who even watch films in theatres?", both Taapsee and Anurag asked.

Now it seems that the Twitterati has granted their wish as the hashtag #CancelDobaaraa started trending on the micro-blogging platform on Wednesday, August 10 as the Twitter users claimed that Anurag and Taapsee have always been 'anti-India' and dug out the past controversial statements made by the Black Friday director.

'Cancel Dobaaraa' is now one of the top trends on Twitter with netizens slamming Anurag, Taapsee, and the film.

A Twitter user wrote, "Boycott this movie, she is doing this everytime and we can not accepted #CancelDobaaraa @anuragkashyap72 @taapsee (sic)."

Another Twitterati posted, "You all should boycott such a movie, this movie is not worth releasing. #CancelDobaaraa @anuragkashyap72 @taapsee (sic)."

However, the director-actor duo has seen taking the boycott trends in a welcoming way which made it a buzzing trend on social media.

Meanwhile, the film has already made its presence at the prestigious film festivals of the world, and recently the director-actor duo also left for Melbourne where the film is scheduled to screen at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.

The film is produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor's Cult Movies, a new wing under Balaji Telefilms and Sunir Kheterpal and Gaurav Bose (Athena).
