Mumbai: Following the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has also met with a huge demand, which has forced Maruti to ramp up production of the Brezza as well.

The Indian carmaker had already scaled up production to 100,000 units per year from their initial plans of 80,000 units, ever since the Brezza attracted buyers’ interests at the 2016 Auto Expo in February.

Launched in March, the Brezza met with huge unforeseen demand, which led Maruti to ramp up production. Sales of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza for the month of May were 7193 units, which led Maruti to defeat the crossover segment-leader Hyundai Creta.

So, now as the Brezza’s waiting period has jumped to a frustrating eight months, Maruti Suzuki has further stepped up production from 8000 units a month to 10000 units each month. This will cut down to a great extent on the current waiting period for the Brezza.

The trend, however, is a positive one on the part of Maruti Suzuki, as the demand for the Brezza keeps breaching the expectations of Maruti Suzuki itself. While Maruti has sold about 20,588 units of the Brezza so far, it also has about 52000 bookings to cover. Maruti also hopes that the new arrangement will cover the deliveries to the excess outstanding bookings of the Brezza.

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza runs on a DDiS 200, DOHC, 1.3-liter, 1248 cc, BS-IV Compliant, diesel engine, producing 89 bhp at 4000 rpm and 200 Nm of maximum torque at 1750 rpm. The five-speed manual gearbox is standard across all variants and the fuel economy is a remarkable, industry-best 24.3 kmpl.
