Kuwait City: Flight operations from Kuwait are set to return to full capacity, with all foreign airlines scheduled to resume services from Terminal 1 at Kuwait International Airport starting June 1, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
The authority said the resumption follows the completion of maintenance and expansion works at the airport, along with upgrades to operational systems and infrastructure.
Sheikh Engineer Humoud Mubarak Al Humoud Al Jaber Al Sabah, Chairman of the authority, said the decision came after improving the airport’s readiness and strengthening operational facilities and infrastructure.
Kuwait had suspended air traffic and closed its airspace and airport on February 28 following the US-Israel-Iran conflict, resulting in a complete halt to flight operations.
Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways resumed services on April 25, but other foreign airlines had not yet received permission to restart operations.
The return of all airline services from June 1 is expected to bring relief to travellers, including the large Malayali community in Kuwait. Air India Express services to Kerala will also resume from June 1.
