Kuwait’s Public Authority for Civil Aviation has signed a five-year contract worth KD18.6 million ($60 million) with UK-based NATS to manage and develop air navigation services at Kuwait International Airport.
The agreement was signed by PACA Chairman Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah and NATS Managing Director International Ben Kiff in the presence of officials from both sides.
Saad Al-Otaibi, PACA Deputy Director General for Planning and Projects, told KUNA the contract is part of the authority’s plan to upgrade air navigation services, improve operational efficiency and train Kuwaiti personnel.
He said the project covers the operation and management of Kuwait’s air navigation services, as well as the redesign of airspace and flight routes in line with local and regional developments.
The work will be carried out in accordance with International Civil Aviation Organisation standards.
The contract also includes the implementation of a comprehensive air traffic management system, maintenance evaluation, equipment and facilities control, and the preparation of rehabilitation and development plans.
Mr Al-Otaibi said the project will also focus on training air navigation staff and improving their technical capabilities.
