Reporting 81K new cases, Indias corona tally nears 64L

New Delhi : Reporting 81,214 Covid 19 cases and 1,095 deaths in 24 hours, India's tally on Friday stood at 63,94,069 cases.

As many as 9,42,217 are currently active, 53,52,078 have been discharged, while 99,773 lost to the viral disease.

The upside is India's recovery rate stands at a whopping 83.70 per cent. And the fatality rate has come down to 1.56 per cent, the data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.

Of the states, Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit with a total of 14,00,922 cases, alongside 37,056 deaths; followed by Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

India conducted 10,97,947 sample tests in a single day on Thursday, taking the total number of samples tested so far to 7,67,17,728, according to the data from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
