Perth/ Australia: A hotel in Australia handed out a hefty bill to a customer for using a hair dryer which triggered a fire alarm, New York Post reported.

The woman from Perth, who stayed at the Novotel Perth Langley, was charged 1,400 Australian dollars (₹ 78,000), according to NDTV.

She was staying at the hotel to go to the Ministry of Sound concert at Kings Park.

Before going to the show, she showered and used dryer to do her hair.

However, before she had time to get dressed, she met firefighters at the room’s door.

Three days she was handed a hefty bill and when she questioned, the hotel stated that they had ‘assessed her a call-out fee for the fire department’.

However, local media reported the Department of Fire and Emergency Services charges less than what she was charged.

The hotel initially refused to reverse the transaction after it overdrew her account.

‘They sent no email, I called the hotel, (reception) said it was in their terms and conditions. So if you're at a buffet and the alarm goes off are they going to charge you for burning your toast?’ she reportedly said.

Nevertheless the hotel refused to answer her calls, the manager refunded the extra charge after getting her emails.
