Will not provide F-16 fighter jet to Ukraine: US President Biden

New Delhi: The continuing Russian attack made Ukraine desperately look for more sophisticated weapons from the west.

However, the US president Joe Biden let down Ukraine saying today that the F-16 fighter jet Ukraine sought for will not be provided.

The announcement comes as Ukraine is urging the West to hasten the supply of promised weapons.

Hundreds of tanks and armoured vehicles that Western countries promised to Ukraine are months away from delivery.

The lack of effective weapons and armoured vehicels that could stop Russia has weakened Ukraine’s defence framework.

In the midst of freezing cold and raging attack the Russian forces claimed a series of gains in the east of Ukraine.

Until the beginning of winter, Ukraine forces appeared to be making gains pushing out Russian forces from invaded areas.

It seems the gains that Ukraine made are fast losing to the fire power of Russian forces.

Meanwhile, last week the United States and Germany announced plans to provide heavy tanks to the country.

Ukrainian president Zelenskyy has reportedly urged Western powers to speed up the delivery of the promised weapons.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian military analyst Oleh Zhdanov said Ukraine still holds control of Maryinka and Vuhledar.

However, Russia reportedly dispatched thousands of convicts recruited from its prisons to the warfront.

The substitutes could help Russia buy enough time to “reconstitute’ its regular military units with thousands of reservists.

Over the past 24 hours, reports say, Russia shelled several settlements in the Bakhmut sector, where the newly recruited convicts will work.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has so far killed thousands of people and created millions of refugees.
