US college professor fired for asking female students to remove shirts
text_fieldsNew York: After three months of investigation, an education body in a US college has expelled a professor for asking female students to remove their shirts in the classroom.
The Office for Civil Rights within the Department of Education found that the professor instructed 11 female students to remove their shirts down to their sports bras for a classroom demonstration, Fox5 DC reported.
The teacher is accused of creating a hostile environment in the classroom alongside making inappropriate comments about their breasts.
He made the instructions claiming it was for a medical assessment while removal of clothing was not required, reports say.
The professor who was first placed on administrative leave before being fired asked some of the female students who were wearing lab jackets to remove them.
The incident that had taken place at the Takoma/Silver Spring campus was first reported in 2019.
A spokesperson for the college offered support to the resolutions in the final investigative report.
The probe also found one of the female students failed the course believing to be as part of harassment.
The college offered to cover the cost of three students in the same class for retaking the course.
Meanwhile, the professor’s name was not yet disclosed alongside it is not yet known if the matter was informed to the police.
