Ukraine secures monthly US air defense deliveries amid supply constraints, says Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Kyiv has reached an agreement with the United States for monthly deliveries of Patriot air defense interceptor missiles, while cautioning that the overall supply remains inadequate to meet the nation's defense needs.

Speaking to reporters in Belgrade, Zelensky noted that total missile deliveries projected for 2026 are expected to decrease compared to 2025 levels, attributing global supply strains in part to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.

The announcement comes alongside broader diplomatic efforts surrounding the conflict. U.S. President Donald Trump recently expressed optimism regarding potential progress toward a peace settlement following discussions with both Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Speaking alongside Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan ahead of the NATO Summit in Ankara, Trump indicated that both leaders appeared open to negotiations, with Turkey continuing to play a constructive role in facilitating peace talks.
