Kyiv: Ukraine and Russia traded attacks in the early hours of Saturday and killed some civilians, which included pregnant women. Following the attacks, both sides accused each other of the deadly attacks, Agence France–Presse reported.

A cross-border attack on Russia's Belgorod region, launched by Ukraine, killed at least three civilians, Russian authorities informed. At the same time, a Russian attack on northeast Ukraine also killed two people.

AFP learned from a Ukrainian defence source that its drone attacks aimed at an energy infrastructure that fed a Russian military-industrial complex. It was a joint operation by Ukraine's SBU security service, army and military intelligence, which hit three Russian electrical substations and a fuel storage base to put them on fire.

Russia claimed that its defence intercepted around 50 drones launched by Ukraine, and some were even near the capital city, Moscow.

Russia's defence ministry said it had intercepted 50 Ukrainian drones overnight, some of them hundreds of kilometres from the border, including some near the capital city of Moscow.

Ukraine has increased their targeted attacks on Russian oil and gas facilities in recent months. Kyiv calls it a "fair" retaliation on Russian infrastructure for fuel.

A regional governor stated through the social media platform Telegram that doctors did their best to save the deceased pregnant woman and her child but in vain.

Ukraine informed that, in Russian strikes at a residential building in the northeastern city of Vovchansk, two people were killed while two more were injured.

When Russia launched at least seven missiles at them, their air defences shot down two, Ukraine airforce informed.
