Trump selects Brooke Rollins as agricultural secretary for his term

Washington: US President-elect Donald Trump selected policy advocate Brooke Rollins as his agricultural secretary on Saturday.
If Rollins gets confirmed by the Senate, she would command a large agency that has major implications for US citizens and corporations, Agence France-Presse reported.
The agency employs around 1,00,000 people and monitors farm programmes, research and trade, food safety, animal and plant health, and ultimately forests.
It manages the country’s food assistance programme, which has more than 40 million recipients.
As Trump is going to return to the top seat of America, he swiftly moved pieces to select officials of the inner circle who are going to lead the important government agencies. His selections range from TV hosts to US senators and governors. The selection of Rollins completed the filling of the positions of his inner circle.
Fifity-two-year-old Rollins is the CEO of the American First Policy Institute, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the Trump agenda, which is often referred to as his “White House in waiting”.
Many of Trump’s nominees to his inner circle have close ties to the group. With the selection of Rollins, Trump has filled all of his top cabinet posts.
He had created a new department for his upcoming term, the Department of Government Efficiency, which holds the objective of finding ways of saving taxpayers' money. He had selected multibillionaire Elon Musk to head the department, along with former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
Selecting Rollins, Trump hailed her commitment to supporting the American Farmer, defence of American Food Self-Sufficiency and the restoration of Agriculture-dependent American Small Towns.
During Trump’s first term, Rollins had temporarily held the helm of his Domestic Policy Council.
