‘No lessons from terror sponsor’: India rebukes Pakistan at UN
text_fieldsGeneva: India has sharply criticised Pakistan at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), asserting that it needs no lessons from a “terror sponsor” that continues to finance and shelter networks threatening global security.
Delivering India’s Right of Reply during the General Debate on the oral update by the High Commissioner at the 60th session of the Council, Kshitij Tyagi, Counsellor at India’s Permanent Mission in Geneva, addressed Pakistan’s remarks on India.
“We are compelled, once again, to respond to provocations from a country whose own leadership recently likened it to a ‘dump truck’ — perhaps an inadvertently apt metaphor for a state that continues to deposit recycled falsehoods and stale propaganda before this distinguished Council,” Tyagi stated.
He recalled the tragic Pahalgam attack in April this year, where Pakistan-sponsored terrorists transformed a meadow of joy into a killing field. Tyagi also invoked the memory of 9/11, marking its anniversary, highlighting the hypocrisy of those who sheltered its mastermind, slain Al Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, and glorified him as a martyr.
“Lest we forget Pulwama, Uri, Pathankot, Mumbai… the list is endless,” he emphasised, highlighting Pakistan’s repeated role in cross-border terror. Tyagi stressed that despite these provocations, India’s “measured and proportionate” response to the Pahalgam attack demonstrated the country’s resolve.
He criticised Pakistan’s continued audacity to speak with moral pretence while financing and sheltering networks that threaten global security, asserting that the international community recognises this charade.
“We need no lessons from a terror sponsor; no sermons from a persecutor of minorities; no advice from a state that has squandered its own credibility,” Tyagi said. He further accused Pakistan of systematically abusing the UNHRC and routinely manipulating the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation as its mouthpiece.
“Pakistan’s pathological fixation on India appears to provide it with existential validation. Yet, we must respond, lest we forget,” he added.
Tyagi concluded by reaffirming India’s commitment to protecting its citizens and defending its sovereignty without compromise. “We will continue to expose, time and again, the elaborate deception of a failed state whose survival depends upon trafficking in terror and tragedy,” he said.
