New Delhi: Even in the thick of the war, besieged all around by Russian forces, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky continues diplomacy.

He has never ceased talking with the world leaders either appealing for help or asking them to dissuade Putin from this crazy war.

The latest of his parleys is with UK PM Boris Johnson in which he is reported to have said that the next 24 hours is crucial period.

The report agency RT says as much, as more cities come under Russian offensive.

Downing Street let on in a statement as the President Zelensky saying to PM Boris Johnson: "believed the next 24 hours was a crucial period for Ukraine". Johnson reportedly responded that he "would do all he could to help ensure defensive aid from UK and allies reached Ukraine."

The report further said as Johnson praising Zelensky for his "leadership and added that " the resistance of Ukrainian people was heroic". The two leaders agreed to stay in close contact.

Earlier UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said that Ukraine might well become a conflict between Russia and NATO unless western countries stand up to Putin now.

Truss had earlier said of compiling "a hit list" of Russian 'Oligarchs' to be sanctioned.

On the same day, Truss gave her blessing to Brits to go to Ukraine to fight against Russia – despite being warned that such action would be illegal and dangerous.
