Musk joins Modi-Trump call on West Asia; White House calls talks ‘productive’
text_fieldsWashington/New Delhi: Elon Musk unexpectedly joined a Tuesday phone call between US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the West Asia crisis—the first since conflict erupted on February 28—signaling his thaw with Trump, per The New York Times.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed to PTI: “President Trump has a great relationship with Prime Minister Modi, and this was a productive conversation.”
Two US officials told NYT Musk's presence was "unusual" for a private citizen in a heads-of-state wartime huddle. It's unclear why he joined or if he spoke. The duo clashed last year after Musk's exit from a government role slashing federal workforce.
Modi stressed keeping the Strait of Hormuz "open, secure, and accessible" for global stability and economy.
