Tehran: Mansoureh Khojasteh, the wife of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has died after sustaining injuries in recent US-Israeli strikes on Tehran, Iranian state media reported.

Khojasteh, 78, was injured in the same wave of attacks that killed Khamenei during what US and Israeli officials described as a coordinated operation targeting strategic military and security infrastructure in and around the Iranian capital. She later succumbed to her wounds, according to official outlets.

Khamenei was killed in the opening phase of the strikes, with confirmation from Iranian authorities coming hours after US President Donald Trump publicly announced the cleric’s death. Trump described the operation as part of a broader push aimed at regime change in Tehran.

Khojasteh was Khamenei’s only wife. The couple married in 1964 and remained together throughout his political rise and decades-long leadership of the Islamic Republic.

Reports also indicated that several members of Khamenei’s immediate and extended family were killed in the same round of attacks, including his daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter. A member of the Tehran City Council, quoted by Reuters via the Young Journalists Club, earlier confirmed fatalities within the Supreme Leader’s extended family following the strikes.

The deaths within the Supreme Leader’s family are expected to intensify domestic pressure on Iran’s leadership and further inflame already heightened regional tensions. Iranian authorities have warned that attacks on the country will draw a response.

The conflict has rapidly widened into its third day, with Iran and Iranian-backed groups launching retaliatory strikes against Israel and parts of the Gulf region. The Iranian Red Crescent Society said at least 555 people have been killed across Iran since the escalation began.

Israeli strikes have also expanded into southern Lebanon, where at least 31 people were reported dead, marking a significant broadening of hostilities beyond the initial Tehran-focused operation.
