The Embassy of India in Tehran on Monday advised Indian nationals in Iran to leave the country using available means of transport, including commercial flights, in view of the evolving situation.

In an advisory posted on X, the mission reiterated earlier notices issued on January 5 and January 14, 2026, urging Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) to exercise caution. The embassy advised them to avoid areas of protests or demonstrations, remain in contact with the mission, and closely monitor local media for updates.

“In continuation of the advisory issued by the Government of India on 5 January 2026, and in view of the evolving situation in Iran, Indian nationals who are currently in Iran — students, pilgrims, business persons and tourists — are advised to leave Iran by available means of transport, including commercial flights,” the statement said.

The advisory further stressed that all Indian citizens and PIOs should keep their travel and immigration documents, including passports and identification papers, readily accessible at all times. Nationals were requested to contact the embassy for any assistance.

The mission also released emergency helpline numbers for support: +989128109115, +989128109109, +989128109102 and +989932179359, along with an official email address for assistance.

Indian citizens residing in Iran who have not yet registered with the embassy have been urged to enrol through the online form available on its website. In case of internet disruptions within Iran, family members in India have been requested to complete the registration process on their behalf.
