India criticizes China's border moves during the Quad Meeting

China has ignored the written agreements it made with us in 2020 not to mass forces at the border, which has led to the current situation at the Line Of Actual Control in Ladakh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Saturday.

The whole international community should be concerned when a large country defies written commitments, he said.

In a joint press conference with his Australian counterpart Marise Payne, he stated that the four foreign ministers of the Quad countries made a point that "we're here to do positive things, to contribute to peace, prosperity, stability of the region".

Mr Jaishankar said that China's foreign minister had criticized the Quad repeatedly, but that it does not make us untrustworthy for doing so.

As a partnership between four nations, the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad) is committed to openness, transparency and addressing challenges arising from the current global order.

Since the two Quad Summits last year, this is the first time the three foreign ministers have met. They plan to discuss ongoing Quad cooperation in their bilateral phone calls and meetings.
