Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson to be Trump's Vice President pick
text_fieldsWashington: Tucker Carlson, popular TV show host and conservative pundit, is likely to be the vice presidential running mate for Donald Trump, the former President’s elder son said.
Donald Trump Jr told cable channel Newsmax the option to hand the job to Carlson is ‘on the table’, The Hill reported.
Tucker Carlson left Fox News after running a prime-time show for six years before he was pulled off the air on April 24 last year.
The top-rated host across all of cable news was not given the reason his removal from the show.
Carlson was laid off days after Fox News paid Dominion Voting Systems to settle claims of defamation related its coverage of Trump's false statements about the elections in 2020.
Signaling at Donald Trump picking Carlson, former presidents’ son said: ‘I mean they're very friendly, I think they agree on virtually all of these things. They certainly agree on stopping the never-ending wars. And so, I would love to see that happen. That would certainly be a contender.’
Donald Trump told a town hall meeting this week that he had made a decision on choosing his running mate.
The former president previously said that Carlson would be his presidential pick because ‘he’s got great common sense’.
Meanwhile, President Joe Biden called Trump ‘the clear front runner on the other side at this point,’ after Trump won 20 of Iowa's 40 delegates earlier this week.
Adding further, he said: ‘but here's the thing: this election was always going to be you and me vs. extreme MAGA Republicans. It was true yesterday and it'll be true tomorrow.’
