The first official portrait of Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton was unveiled at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, England on Thursday.

The portrait which was viewed by the Duke and Duchess on Thursday was painted by the award-winning British artist Jamie Coreth.

A glimpse of the portrait was shared by the royal couple in '@dukeandduchesscambridge', their official Instagram page. "Delighted to see this new portrait unveiled at the @fitzmuseum_uk in Cambridge today," read the caption.

In the royal portrait, Kate is seen wearing an emerald green dress from the label The Vampire's Wife, which the Duchess previously wore for her trip to Dublin in 2020. The dress was designed by Susie Cave. Prince William is seen in a dark suit and a blue tie.

"As it is the first portrait to depict them together, and specifically during their time as The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, I wanted the image to evoke a feeling of balance between their public and private lives," Coreth said, thanking the prestigious opportunity that he was assigned to.

According to the Fitzwilliam Museum, the painting was commissioned in 2021 by the Cambridgeshire Museum. It will be later loaned to the National Portrait Gallery in London in 2023.
