Filipino students create hilarious anti-cheating hats for exams
text_fieldsStudents in the Philippines are going viral for wearing anti-cheating hats during an exam. Mary Joy Mandane-Ortiz, a professor of mechanical engineering at Bicol University College of Engineering, shared a series of photos in which students were seen wearing elaborate DIY headgear.
The college had asked students to wear hats that will prevent peeking at others' papers. Youngsters went all out using cardboard, egg boxes, and other recycled materials to make contraptions.
One was seen wearing a pink paper wig with sunglasses and a face mask covering the mouth. Another wore a hat resembling a warrior's headgear which covered everything except eyes and mouth. It also had a red upper part resembling the plume. Other colleges have also followed suit in an attempt to prevent cheating.
The professor told BBC that she was looking for a fun way to ensure integrity and honesty in classrooms and the idea had been "really effective." However, she had only asked the students to make a simple design using paper. But students took it as a creative assignment.
Apparently, the idea has worked and students are motivated to finish exams with no cheating.
