Woman who filed complaint against Malayalam actors faces POCSO case

Thiruvananthapuram: The woman, who had accused actors Mukesh, Jayasurya, Maniyanpilla Raju, and Edavela Babu of sexual harassment when she was a child artist, now faces a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, The News Minute reported.

The Muvattupuzha police filed a case regarding this on Friday after a relative of the woman filed a complaint against her.

The woman is accuse of having tried to introduce the complainant to a group in Chennai when she was 16 forcing her into sex trade, and also alleged that the accused is running a sex racket.

It is reported citing the police that the accused faces charges under the POCSO Act, the Juvenile Justice Act, and Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to outrage a woman’s modesty) and 354A (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code.

The complainant earlier told the media that the accused had taken to her to Chennai promising a movie audition. The complainant alleged that at the audition men touched her inappropriately.

She alleged that the accused asked her to make ‘adjustments’ for getting a role in the film.

The accused woman kicked up a controversy a few weeks ago accusing four actors of sexual harassment after the release of the Hema Committee report.

Later on August 27, she filed complaints to the Kerala police against actors Jayasurya, Edavela Babu, and Maniyanpilla Raju.

She also filed complaint via email against production controllers Noble, Vichu and producer and Lawyers’ Congress president VS Chandrasekharan.

She claimed that she did not take action against actor Mukesh for allegedly harassing her many years ago because she was afraid of consequence being a new to the movie industry.
