World's biggest websites disrupted by outage at cloud company Fastly
text_fieldsLondon: Multiple websites operated by news outlets, Social media companies, Government across the globe have gone down on Tuesday morning, with some reports pointing to a glitch at US-based cloud computing services provider Fastly.
A Reuters report quoted San Francisco-based Fastly website saying that it was investigating "the potential impact to performance with our CDN services".
According to Fastly's website most of its coverage areas were facing "Degraded Performance".
Separately, Amazon.com Inc's retail website also seemed to be down. Amazon was not immediately available to comment.Numerous websites were unavailable Tuesday after an apparent widespread outage at the cloud service company Fastly.
Dozens of high-traffic websites including the New York Times, CNN, Twitch and the U.K. government's home page, could not be reached.
Visitors trying to access CNN.com got a message that said: "Fastly error: unknown domain: cnn.com."
Taking indications from various reports,Down Detector which tracks internet outages reacted to Associated Press suggesting that widespread outage at Fastly might be the reason for the outage.
Nearly 21,000 Reddit users reported issues with the social media platform, while more than 2,000 users reported problems with Amazon, according to outage monitoring website Downdetector.com.
Amazon's Twitch was also experiencing an outage, according to Downdetector's website.
