Facebook, the leading social media platform, announced via a blog post that it would now provide payment to users creating short videos by providing advertisements. The blog post further details various ideas for content creators to monetise their content on the platform. The move followed the threat of other social media platforms, large and small, now attracting Facebook celebrities with options to generate large incomes.

Though earlier applicable for 3-minute videos, Facebook informed that users could now monetise short videos of less than one minute through advertisements. Facebook might also enable content creators to raise revenue using sticker advertisements in their stories in the coming weeks.

Currently, Snapchat provides its users who create short viral videos using its spotlight feature with a million dollars a day. 'Super Follows', launched recently by Twitter, enables users to charge followers for exclusive content.
