Twitter had tough 3 months; was saving it from bankruptcy: Musk

Washington: CEO of the microblogging platform Elon Musk said on Sunday that the platform had a tough time in the past three months and he was working on saving it from bankruptcy, Asian News International reported.

He said that he was backing the platform through said period along with his duties at his other companies, such as Tesla and SpaceX, he wrote on his official Twitter handle. He added that Twitter is still facing challenges and appreciated the general public for their support.

He tweeted, "Last 3 months were extremely tough, as had to save Twitter from bankruptcy while fulfilling essential Tesla & SpaceX duties. Wouldn't wish that pain on anyone. Twitter still has challenges but is now trending to breakeven if we keep at it. Public support is much appreciated!"

According to a Fox Business report, Musk claimed that the massive drop in revenue from the platform, just after he closed the deal of USF 44 billion and bought it, was due to activist groups pressuring advertisers. The news media reported that after sealing the deal, he brought many changes to the platform.

Fox Business reported that Musk had cut down half of the workforce in Twitter's staff, introduced a blue subscription service, and auctioned off memorabilia from the company's San Francisco headquarters. He defended the mass layoffs in the company, saying that it was losing 4 million a day.

Twitter recently announced that it would make access to its API paid. API is used by developers to create third-party services.
