No threats from chatbots, Google will integrate AI chat to search: Sundar Pichai
text_fieldsNew Delhi: After ChatGPT transformed online search, Google seemed to be reeling from the shock.
However, the tech giant is all set to overtake rivals in terms of innovation by bringing AI chat to search, according to a report.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai reportedly told The Wall Street Journal that conversational AI is likely to ‘supercharge the Google search engine’.
His comments suggest the possibility for an intense race among major tech companies to introduce better AI technology to their products.
Meanwhile, Meta, Microsoft, and other tech companies are racing to integrate AI technologies into their products and services.
“Will people be able to ask questions to Google and engage with LLMs in the context of search? Absolutely,” Pichai was quoted as saying.
However, Pichai dismissed the reports that chatbots are posing threat to the search giant.
In March, Google hinted at integrating AI into its search engines; however, the company didn’t supply any timeline for the project.
Google went on introducing Bard, its rival to Open AI’s Chat GPT alongside announcing plans to revamp the search engine.
Just weeks ago, Microsoft offered millions of dollars to integrate AI into its Bing search engine, giving it an edge over Google search.
Innovation in technology comes at a time when Google is reportedly facing pressure from investors to trim costs.
