New York: Apple Inc. is working on to make changes to its smartwatches in order to ward off a potential ban on the product, according to Bloomberg News.

Engineers at the company are working on its algorithms which help reading a user’s blood oxygen level.

Meanwhile, health-monitoring company Masimo (MASI.O) argued that the feature infringes its patents.

Engineers are reportedly ‘adjusting’ how the feature identifies oxygen saturation and presents data, Bloomberg News reported citing sources.

Apple’s products are reported to have been barred over legal disputes in some countries; however, the company is now involved in ‘a high-stakes engineering effort unlike any Apple has undertaken before’.

‘Without a last-minute veto by the White House, a ban imposed by the International Trade Commission will take effect on Dec. 25, Bloomberg News reported.

It is hugely taxing as the tech market is getting ready for Christmas sales, the most important money- spinner annually.

Rather than settling the dispute with Masimo, Apple has focused on making changes to its technology, thus ‘to win favour with regulators’.

The company’s new signs for retails outlets to promote Apple Watch shows no photos of two models that are likely to face ban: Series 9 and Ultra 2, according to the report.

However, the company’s SE watch will continue in the market.
